The Real Me.

I always appear so strong on the outside but actually i'm so timid on the inside. Honestly, deep down i know that i'm a very emotional & sensitive guy. I can get affected by all the minor things that one can say about me. I'm affected when someone make some comments about me, I'm affected when someone doesnt keep their promises & i know i am petty, yes i do.

I appear so strong infront of many, so strong that i appear to be arrogant at times, so unapproachable that when someone wants to say hi they think twice if i would actually say hi back. Nobody knows that deep inside i don't have much confidence. It sounds so wrong when someone says to me : could you have more confidence? I've been a mentor to many, you could talk to me about anything under the sun & i would have a solution for you. But it just seems like i'm a failure because nothing really goes my way.

I think that i appear so arrogant sometimes that it is difficult to seek help. I look like someone who would never need help as i always have solutions. It's difficult to put my pride aside & confront those whom you've been a mentor to. I guess that guys don't really like to be counselled by others as when they do, it's when they proberly lost everything. Maybe that is the reason why i always keep things to myself.

Sometimes i just wish that i could really have someone to talk to when i need to, but the problem is I can't just tell my problems to anyone i see, it's the fear in me. I don't wanna lose everything. Someone told me i had strong willpower in life, let's just hope that i am gonna start living life soon.

The ITE Student

So what if i am from ITE? don't look down on me. Often when I tell someone that I am from ITE, they ask me why didnt i study hard? Although both my siblings are university graduates and I had the chance to go to Aussie to get a degree but what's the point ? Almost every Tom, Dick & Harry has a degree now. I thought that would'nt it be more interesting if i went to ITE.

I pity those that had to go through the stressful school system. I mean you guys should come to ITE. I use to think that i would have never ended up in ITE but Daddy forced me to take an Electronics course in ITE Yishun before i enlisted for army, true enough I lasted 3 months then i thought like fuck la ITE only stupid people go there, taught by stupid teachers.

I made a decision to take a retail course @ ITE College East when i ORD. I was ready to tell people that i am going to study at ITE. Retail has always been my thing ever since young, i did selling from parsar malam to departmental stores. I love Retail. I love Shopping !

I must say that ITE students are really happening, they are really loud people. I had lots of fun with my classmates, they crack the lamest jokes, the play the weirdest pranks & they really ask the stupidest questions. You would never get this kinda shit from JC or Poly. =)

On the left hand sleeve of my school's PE SHIRT spells IT'S MY CHOICE in bold. ITE is my choice and I am thankful towards ITE for giving me the chance to study. Without ITE, i would'nt have gotten the scholarship & might have proberly still been pretty lost about what was i going to do with my career. ITE helped me to secure a job even before i could graduate. A big thank you to all the teachers that had taught me @ ITE. You made learning a difference. ITE is not the end, it's just the beginning.

Ace The Retail Interview

The Interview
B
ase on my scholarship interview, i was greeted by one of the most challenging interviews ever. Picture this you enter this room, the first thing you see is 7 Ladies & 1 Gentlemen. Infront of you is just a chair, questions after questions the bombing doesnt stop. Your interview last twice as long as others which is about 30 mins

For those going for a retail interview here are some tips which i like to share with you guys. Remember your first impression is always very important, it is when you benchmark yourself.

Tips
Grooming: Guys, remember to shave! Brush your teeth! Smell good!

Dressing: Think 77th street interview or Hugo Boss interview dress appropriate. For eg if you are the boss of Topshop, would u hire someone who dresses like an auntie? If you are unsure dress roughly how their sales assistant would normally dress.

Posture: What comes to your mind when you enter a shop & the sales assistant slouches? Like wise, standing up straight helps. Sitting 3/4 of the chair would give you a good posture.

Eye Contact: It represents confidence, look them in the eye when u answer their questions. You would just wow your way through.

Manners: Remember what mummy taught you ? Remember to smile you don't sell coffins.(even if you do just smile) Greet, Seek permission to sit & Thank your interviewers.

The Questions
Q: Tell me what makes a good retailer?
A: A good retailer is someone whom makes customers happy, because when the customer is happy they make purchase, when the make purchase, there is sales, when there is sales the boss is happy.

Q: Why did you choose to be a retailer?
A: I enjoy talking to people, making customers happy. The retail line is a very exciting career, you would never know who are you going to meet, making an unhappy customer happy is very fulfilling.

Q: Scenarios
A: Just remember at the end of the day the focus would be on customers. The reasons for why retail shops are open is to make money. Whenever a customer is faced with a problem, always try to offer a solution. Don't give your bosses problem, give them a problems & 3 solutions & ask them to pick one.

Good Luck to anyone going for a Retail Interview. Hope you Ace it.

Life Of A Young Retailer

This blog would talk about my retailing experience, it is more for reflection & improvement on my retailing career.

I am going to start my career at Tangs soon, on a retail scholarship from WDA. Attachment starts in 7 days time. This is where i would benchmark myself in the Retail World. There are some goals that i set to achieve in the Retail World.

Short Term Goals
  • Score for my IA
  • Build rapport with my colleagues
  • Prepare myself for the actual scholarship
  • Make a difference in Retailing
Long Term Goals
  • Get diploma sponsorship in 2 year's time
  • Supervisor in 2 year's time
  • The voice of retail in 5 year's time
  • Go back to ITE & teach Retail
Well i guess a career is very important to every man, therefore we must have dreams & goals in our careers so at least we know that we are aiming somewhere.
